Didier Chabert at French Championship
Monday, 2 May 2016
On April 16th and 17th, 2016, the first race of the French Jetski Championship GP1 was held in Sainte-Maxime. Didier Chabert was one amongst many well-known drivers that competed.
Didier told us he and his team decided to go into the competition with their smallest machine, to save his main engine for the International Championship, which is coming up later on this season.
Already one weekend before Sainte-Maxime, Chabert was able to give the small machine a first try at the Belgian Championship’s first race. Not only did he succeed at that race, but it also allowed him to work further on his performance.
In Sainte-Maxime, he finished off the first day with a second place. Despite the good first run, due to an error of his own he fell back and finished the race with the 6th place, which is not satisfactory at all for him.
On day 2 in Sainte-Maxime, the weather conditions are a bit worse. Chabert finished with the 4th place.
In the last round of the competition, with rough conditions on sea, Chabert manages to take the lead during the race, but cannot maintain the leading position with the smaller machine. He crosses the finish line as number 3.
Leaving Sainte-Maxime with an overall 3rd place is encouraging for Chabert and regarding the material, this test was very promising for him. Of course, the goal for the season is winning.
Next stop will be Croatia on May 13 - 15, where the first race of the European Championship will take place.
